Samuel Hugh McCracken, Jr.

Samuel Hugh McCracken, Jr. 63, of Morganton, NC, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019. He was born on October 3, 1955 in Burke County to the late Samuel Hugh McCracken, Sr. and Emma Lee Ledford McCracken. He was a member of Chesterfield Church of Christ. Samuel was a veteran of the Broughton Police Department. He was one of the first members of the Table Rock Shooter Pyrotechnic Team where he shot fireworks for 30 years. He loved cooking and was an avid gun collector.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Whittington McCracken; son, Nick McCracken (Katie) of Morganton; sisters, Sandra Noles (Buddy) of Valdese, and Susan McCracken of Morganton; two nephews, one great niece; and various other people he treated as his own kids.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm, Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The service will be at 2:00pm, Sunday, April 14, 2019 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Richard Via and Brad Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterfield Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Church of Christ.
