Samuel Wayne "Sam" Chapman

Samuel Wayne "Sam" Chapman, 29, of Jeeter Carswell Rd., Morganton died Friday, October 16, 2009. Sam was born in Burke County on March 10, 1980 and was a son of Rex Alan Chapman and Renee Shehan Dale. He was a member of Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.Surviving are his wife, Lindsey Renee Lyles Chapman of the home; a daughter, Emma Renee Chapman, of the home; his father, Rex Chapman and Jean Pritchard; his mother, Renee Shehan Dale, and her husband, Gary; brothers, David Alan Chapman and his wife, Leslie, and their daughter, Addison; and Bradley James Chapman; a sister, Marcia Leanna Chapman; step-brothers, Travis and Tyler Pritchard; paternal grandparents, Lee and Zora Chapman; and maternal grandmother, Jerry Ann Shehan, all of Morganton.

Sam was preceded in death by a son, Daxton Wayne Chapman and by his maternal grandfather, Rev. Roy Shehan.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Nowlings Chapel Roy Shehan Fellowship Hall with Reverends Darvy Hensley and Richard Ellington officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapman Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Nowlings Chapel Roy Shehan Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emma Chapman Trust Fund, 4895 Brackett-Lyles Dr., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
