Sandra Cannon Baker, 70, of Drexel, NC died Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born in Burke County, NC on July 11, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Sebren Hatley Cannon and Hilda Mae Poteat Cannon. Sandra was a graduate of Valdese High School and of Mars Hill College. Music was her passion for 45 years. She also enjoyed shopping. Sandra was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Morris Baker; daughter, Chesley Bailey and husband, Pete of Morganton; brothers, Douglas Cannon and wife, Elizabeth of Durham and Greg Cannon and wife, Linda of Valdese; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Marshall Jolley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall. There will be a private inurnment for the family at Drexel Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S. King St., Morganton, NC 28655.
