Sandy Martin Evans, 67, of Morganton, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 27, 1946 in Cleveland County to the late Lloyd Martin and Ruby Jones Martin. She owned and operated Tax Smart in Huntersville and worked for the family business, Ground Technological Services until her health began to fail. She was also a former employee of Brockland Insurance.
Surviving are her husband, Bill Evans of the home; children, Greg Gechter of Iron Station, NC, Chelle Gechter Penwarden and husband, Walt of Florida, Andy Gechter and wife, Nicki of Matthews, NC; step-children, Morgan Evans and Kelli Evans both of Morganton; brother, David Martin and his wife, Reva of Morganton; and grandchildren, Haley Evans, Courtney Stover, Madison, Mackenzie and Maebrie Gechter.
No formal services are planned at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
