Sanford "Sonny" Lindo Bradshaw

Sanford "Sonny" Lindo Bradshaw, 81, of Morganton passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his home after a brief illness. Sonny was born January 10, 1932 in Morganton to the late Felix S. Bradshaw and Margaret Pruitt Bradshaw. He retired from Great Lakes Carbon after 29 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Sonny was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family will always miss him. He was an avid reader, owning hundred of books, and his passion for reading was handed down to his children and grandchildren.Sonny is survived by his wife of 61½ years, Joanne Bollinger Bradshaw; two daughters, Anita Bradshaw and Sheila Bradshaw Roberts, both of Morganton; a son, Sanford H. Bradshaw of Asheville; grandchildren, April Bradshaw James, Nathan G. Causby, and Christopher Bradshaw; one great-grandson, Elias Smith; brothers, Don Bradshaw of Morganton and Ronald Bradshaw of Salisbury; and one sister, Mildred B. Sherman of Cataula, GA.In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Bradshaw, and a sister, Faye B. Poteet.No services are planned at this time. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
