Sarah Gladys Wise Ernest

Sarah Gladys Wise Ernest, 85, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 30, 2018.  Born in Lincoln County, NC on March 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jerry C. Wise and Ola Street Wise.  Sarah was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school.  She retired from Burke County Public Schools where she was a cafeteria worker.

Mrs. Ernest is survived by her sons, John T. Ernest of Morganton and Mark P. Ernest of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Seth A. Ernest, Josiah P. Ernest, and Alyssa Ernest, all of Fort Wayne; brothers, James Wise of Valdese, NC, Walter Wise of Valdese, Dan Wise of Statesville, NC, and Bob Wise of Vale, NC; and sisters, Louise Wise of Connelly Springs, NC and Maxine Morrison of Vale.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Ernest; brothers, Leonard and Colon Wise; and a sister, Dolly Nichols.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Burkemont Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the church with Dr. David Mills and Rev. Preston Stainback officiating.  Mausoleum entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
