Sarah Jean Trent Houpe

Sarah Jean Trent Houpe, 95 of 151 Camden Causeway, Elizabeth City, NC died Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Albemarle Hospital. A native of Iaeger, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Trent and Sarah Cline Trent and the widow of E. V Houpe. She was the former owner of Three Way Grocery and retired as a cottage parent from the West Carolina Center and was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church.She is survived by a daughter, Sandra H. Ward of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, Michael Houpe, Indian Land, SC; grandchildren Michael T. Ward and wife Ann, Becky Ward Pittman and husband Bruce, Jamie McDaniel Ward and wife Brandee, Michael Houpe, Jr., and wife Robin, Jason Houpe and wife Rebecca; great grandchildren, Avi Houpe, Aaran Houpe, Pierce Houpe, Mac Ward, Baker Ward, Phillip Pittman, Elizabeth Pittman, Bruce Pittman, Sarah Kelly and Savannah Ward. She was pre-deceased by nine siblings, Nona Alma Trent, Donald Everett Trent, Maxine Trent, Madeline Barbara Trent, Raymond Harvey Trent, James Tasker Trent, Jo Ann Elizabeth Trent, and Faye Trent.A graveside funeral service will be Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. Memorial donations may be made to North Morganton UMC or Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church, Fund for Christ, PO Box 2818, Elizabeth City, NC 27906-2818. Sossoman Funeral Home, 1011 South Sterling Street, Morganton, NC will be handling the funeral. Twiford’s Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street is assisting the family.
