Sarah Prestwood Hatfield Kimberlin, 72, of Morganton died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Grace Hospital. Born in Caldwell County, NC on July 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John M. Prestwood and Ollie Miller Prestwood. Sarah was a member at Colliers United Methodist Church, Lenoir, NC.A loving mother, grandmother and aunt, she is survived by a daughter, Marylin Waters and her husband, Tommy, of Morganton; a son, William Weston Hatfield of Asheville; grandchildren, Matthew Waters and wife Katie, Mandi Waters and fiancée, Caleb Palmer, Megan Waters, Nicholas "Bubba" Evitt, Sarah-Michaela "Baby" Evitt, Jonathan Hatfield, Emma Hatfield Sidden and husband, Daniel, Thomas Hatfield of England, Hanah Wiltse and husband, Chris, and Robert Hatfield and wife, Whitney; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Prestwood Setzer and Dorothy Prestwood Bumgarner both of Lenoir; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Reid Hatfield, second husband, Garath James Kimberlin, a son, Tommy Hatfield, a granddaughter, Ashley McCurry and a brother, Ward Prestwood.A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 at Colliers United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Anne Bowen and Rev. Robert Setzer, her nephew, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Colliers United Methodist Church Relief Fund, 2625 Clarke Chapel Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
