Saunders Walk Bryant

Saunders Walk Bryant, 62, of Amherst Rd., Morganton, NC died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, IL following a lengthy illness. Born in Smith County, VA on October 18, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Robert Vaught and Ellen Turner Walk Sheets. Saunders was a retired employee of Kimble Glass and was a former employee of Skyland Textiles, Hanes, and Sara Lee Knitting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.Saunders is survived by her husband, Larry J. Bryant of the home; a daughter, Lora Lynn Jones of Morganton; grandsons, Christopher Cuthbertson and Nicholas Rector; brothers, Lee Sheets of Morganton, Charles "Wolf" Walk of Morganton, and Robert Lee Sheets and wife, Norma, of Lexington, SC; sisters, Jean Patton and husband, Kenneth, of Morganton and Mary Gray of Edenton, NC; a mother-in-law, Helen Hamby Bryant of Morganton.In addition to hers parents, Saunders was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wayne Sheets, Sr.; an infant sister, Bessie Sheets; and her step-father, Elmer Sheets.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Reverends Herrill Townsend and Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
