Sharon Louise Weitzel Lowdermilk

Sharon Louise Weitzel Lowdermilk, beloved wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, died unexpectedly on September 8, 2022, in Morganton, NC at the age of 70.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jim Lowdermilk; as well as three step-children, Marc Lowdermilk (Laurie), Matt Lowdermilk (Leslie), and Erin Lowdermilk-Parham (Marc). She is also survived by her cousin, Mary Frances Sullivan (Jim), and brother-in-law, Ed Lowdermilk (Dee).

Born on June 13, 1952, in Granite Falls, NC, Sharon graduated from Mitchell Community College in Statesville, North Carolina with a degree in Literature. She was the longtime apartment manager for Forest Associates in Morganton. Sharon was a Master Gardener and enjoyed reading, watching old movies, and cooking. Most of all, she loved being “Nana” to her five grandchildren, Andrew Lowdermilk (Eleanor), Patrick Lowdermilk, Ella Parham, Grace Parham, and Macy Parham, and her great-grandson, Lenoir Lowdermilk.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton.  A celebration of Sharon’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.
