Shirley Anthony McGlamery

Mrs. Shirley Anthony McGlamery, 76, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Grace Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Yadkin County, NC on March 1, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Ervin Vance and Dellie Peele Anthony. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 56 years, William "Brice" McGlamery; three daughters, Pamela Doby and husband, Kenny of Mocksville, Tammy Kerley and husband, Howard of Morganton, and Shana Harrison and husband, Johnny of Salisbury. She is also survived by grandchildren of whom she adored, Nathaniel Kerley, Eric Kerley, Owen Harrison, Shelby Harrison, Jamie Doby, Kendra Doby; great-grandchildren, Hazel Doby and Lola Kerley; brother, Howard Anthony and wife, Bonnie of Shallotte, NC; and two special people whom she considered her children, Henry and Debbie Deal of Morganton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, and special thanks to a great lady and Sunday School Teacher, Modene Stroupe, whom she greatly adored.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2015 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Danny Emory, Rev. David Orders and Rev. Ron Cooper officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the sanctuary fund at Hopewell Baptist Church, 1112 Hopewell Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the ICU nurses and Dr. Jacks for their kindness to us in our hours of bereavement. Also a special thanks to Dr. John Betancourt and his staff for looking after Shirley for many years of whom she greatly adored.
