Stanley Holcombe

Stanley Holcombe, 54, of Mountain Glen Circle, Morganton, NC died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese, NC following a period of declining health. Born in Yancey County, NC on September 16, 1956, he was the son of the late Liston Ewin Holcombe and Chloe Blankenship Holcombe. He was a member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church. Stanley was a self-employed painting contractor and loved helping people.He is survived by his wife, Marlene D. Carswell Holcombe of the home; a son, William Brandon Holcombe of Morganton; a brother, Rickey Dean Holcombe and wife, Wanda, of Morganton; a niece, Leslie Moore and husband, Derek, of Morganton; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Tyler and Jasmine Moore of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2010 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church with Brother Bud Jernigan and Pastor Kevin Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. At other times the family will be at Marlene’s residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
