Stanley W. Rector

Stanley W. Rector, 85, Morganton, died Sunday, July 15, 2018.  He was born December 11, 1932 in Yancey County to the late Robert Lew Rector and Cora Robinson Rector.  Mr. Rector was of the Methodist faith and was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War.  He was co-owner of Banner Rector Furniture before selling out and opening/operating Rector Appliance Repair Shop for 25 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Rector; and a sister, Thelma Presnell.

Mr. Rector is survived by his wife, Joyce Faye Wood Rector; son, Stephen Rector and wife, Mariana, of Morganton; sisters, Patricia Rector Vess (Claude) of Burnsville, Lorene Craddock (Bill) of Salisbury, and Francis McMahan (Mike) of Spruce Pine; and Christina Abigail Murariu who considers herself a grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Revs. Chris Uren, Frank Gordon, and Mary Gordon officiating.  Burial will follow at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery with military honors provided by US Air Force and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church, 1741 Jamestown Road, Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
