Steven Randy Whisnant

Steven Randy Whisnant, 66, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 27, 2015 due to his extensive battle with cancer.  Born in Burke County, NC on November 23, 1948, he was the son of the late Walter Daniel Whisenant and Levie Reldy McGee Whisenant.  Steven was a member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church where he served as custodian for 25 years.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.  Mr. Whisnant enjoyed working on old cars, especially his GTO.  He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, assisting the Freedom High School Band, and pulling the band trailer.

A loving and devoted husband and father, Steven is survived by his wife, Quteen Dale Whisnant of the home; a daughter, Randie Renee Whisnant of Asheville, NC; a sister, Delores Joann Crump and her husband, Danny, of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Era Frances Penley and her husband, Dwight, of Morganton; nephews, Tracy Whisnant and his wife, Crissy, Danny Crump, Jr., and Leon Crump; great-nephews, Chase Whisnant, Dustin Crump, and Steven Trey Whisnant; and a great-niece, Chesnie Whisnant.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held in the church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bud Jernigan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
