Sue Benfield

Sue Benfield, 85, of Morganton died Saturday, April 5, 2014. Mrs. Benfield was born June 21, 1929 in Burke County to the late Charlie Chapman and Vertie Prewitt Chapman. She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church and retired from Broughton Hospital. Mrs. Benfield loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Vernon Benfield and siblings, Erseal Chapman, Mae Bullins, Louise Denton, Thelma Smith, Myrlee Dale and Brenda Johnson.Mrs. Benfield is survived by her children, Gary Benfield of Morganton and Beckey Triplett and husband, Bob of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Lauren Korisko and husband, Tom, Paul Benfield and wife, Glenda, Katherine Triplett, Sarah Benfield and Jamie Triplett; five great-grandchildren, and siblings, Willard Chapman, Don Chapman Betty Garrison and Vivian Ross.A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014 at El Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverends Kenneth Baker and David Bean officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to El Bethel Church, PO Box 2518, Morganton, NC 28680. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
