Susan Womack Biggerstaff

Susan Womack Biggerstaff, 67, of Morganton passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her residence while surrounded by her family.  Born in Forest City, NC on July 22, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Solon and Evangeline Womack.

She was a 1968 graduate of East Rutherford High School and a 1972 graduate of Limestone College.  Susan was a member of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City.

Susan and Don began their bond in high school and were married upon graduation from college in 1972.

Susan was kind, loving, and always joyful.  With such a sparkle in her eyes and a smile that flashed in an instant, she always instigated easy conversation with new introductions.

She had boundless energy, remarkable creativity, and went about each day toward making some improvement in her surroundings.  Each spring saw her outside and happily toiling in the many gardens surrounding her home.  She was especially fond of daylilies and extended the presence of those colorful June blossoms all around her home.

First and foremost, Susan’s focus in life was the nurturing of her children and grandchildren.  She taught them all life skills for success and that is her lasting legacy.

Susan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald “Don” Biggerstaff; children, Claire Burrell and husband, Mike, Mark Biggerstaff and wife, Hillary, and Lee Biggerstaff and wife, Robin; grandchildren, Bryson Burrell, Alex Burrell, Lawson Biggerstaff, Parker Biggerstaff, Alice Biggerstaff, and Emma Biggerstaff; siblings, Scott Womack and wife, Charlotte, and Lee Ann Critcher and husband, Jim; sister-in-law, Shirley Wright and husband, Ken; and nine nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2018 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 5011 Dysartsville Road, Morganton.  The memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Shirley Wright officiating.
