Sylvia Anders Woodruff

Sylvia Anders Woodruff, 69, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Caldwell County, NC on December 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Beuys Anders and Bessie Spicer Anders. Sylvia was a homemaker; she was a great baker and flower gardener. She loved animals and the outdoors. Along with her first husband, Billy, she owned and operated Billy Dee’s Barbeque as well as other food establishments.A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Sylvia is survived by her husband, Dan Byrd of the home; sons, Jeffrey Alan Woodruff and his wife, Shawn, of Lenoir, NC and Joel L. Woodruff and his wife, April, of Granite Falls, NC; a step-son, Kevin Byrd and his wife, Spring, of Lenoir, NC; a step-daughter, Colleen Byrd of Conover, NC; grandchildren, Cullen L. Woodruff, Gabriel A. Woodruff, and Peyton Byrd; and siblings, Barbara Watson and her husband, Ross "Pete", David Anders and his wife, Elaine, and Nancy Brooks and her husband, Johnny, all of Lenoir.In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Dee Woodruff, and a brother, Gerald Sonny Anders.The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2013 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Kevin Matheson officiating.
