Sylvia Saxon

Sylvia Saxon of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully Saturday, January 8, 2011 at her residence. Born in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Trudy Saxon. Sylvia was a proud graduate of Agnes Scott College and of U.N.C.-Chapel Hill. For thirty-two years Sylvia was employed as a public health consultant. She loved learning and helping others learn. Sylvia was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she continued her spiritual growth through Education for Ministry and other church activities. She shared God’s love and her life’s blessings with everyone she met. In life, Sylvia believed and practiced that Time is a gift – share it; Money is a gift – share it; Love is a gift – share it. God is present in everything – respect it, bless it, love it, share it. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Don.Surviving to cherish her memory are Kathy Peters of Morganton; her church family and a large circle of friends; Donald Saxon III and wife, Sally, Lide Saxon and wife, Ginger, Anne Bentley and husband, Dennis, and Stephen Saxon.A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Grace Episcopal Church with the Reverend Bruce Walker officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S.
