Ted C. Kirby, 63, of Propst Rd., Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Grace Hospital. He was born December 30, 1942 in Caldwell County, NC, and was a son of the late Jay G. and Ada Shoun Kirby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ann Goble. Ted was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Seimens Company.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Stroup Kirby of the home; sons, Vince Kirby of Caldwell County and Michael Kirby of Morganton; and brothers, Carroll Kirby of Blountville, TN and Jerry Kirby of Hudson, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Burkemont Baptist Church with the Reverends David Mills, Phillip Long, Eddie Bunton, and Bill Holland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 pm at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
