Teresa Jo "Terri" Long

Teresa Jo “Terri” Long, 62 of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Sunday, January 24, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Born in McDowell County, NC on October 2, 1953 and was the daughter of Betty Sue Baker Ricketts, of Nebo and the late John C. Ricketts of Marion. Terri was a loving, giving woman who took pride in caring for her mother and making her loved ones laugh. She worked at Leviton Southern Devices as a Purchasing Agent for 44 years. She was a member of Victory Church.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by grandparents, Howard and Ada Baker, of Nebo; uncles, Carl Ray Baker, Gerald Baker and Harry Baker; and aunts, Gloria Jean Bishop and Myrtle Devue Miller.

In addition to her mother she is survived by uncles, Robert Baker, Michael Baker and his wife, Tonya; aunts, Shirley Sisk, Mabel Burkhart and husband, David, and Sybil McNeely, all of Nebo, NC; and a number of cousins, close loved ones and friends.

A celebration of Teresa’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Pastor Troy Welty officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center of Valdese Hospital, P.O. Box 700, Valdese, NC 28690.
