The morning of July 7, 2011, Mrs. Betty Keller Shytle, 82, of Pea Ridge Road, Morganton, NC went home to her Lord. Born in Burke County, NC on October 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Powell and Bessie Elizabeth Whisnant Powell. Betty was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church. Her memory lives strong in countless family and friends.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Keller; her son, Dean Keller; and siblings Lovie Ervin, Jason Powell, Conley Powell, Vergie Abner, Levi Powell, Ivey Powell, Hazel Dale, and Larry Powell.Betty is survived by her husband, Winfred Shytle of the home; children, Dennis, Darrell, and Dawn Keller; step-daughters, Sharon Sells, Renae Brame, and Celeste Tolbert; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; the many children "Maw Maw" helped raise; her church family; and many other loved ones.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Parker and Rev. Keith Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
