Thelma Malline Burnette

Thelma Malline Burnette, 95, of Morganton died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 after a period of declining health.  Born in Cedartown, GA on July 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Seals Watson and Mary Gertrude Cox Watson.  Thelma was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Esom Hill, GA.  She enjoyed watching Carolina basketball, gardening, canning, and baking for her family. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Harold  Burnette (Patricia) of Morganton and Ralph Burnette (Linda) of Marion; grandchildren, Sue Lowdermilk, Lance Burnette, Travis Burnette, and Barry Burnette; great-grandchildren, Mandy Stevenson, Will Burnette, Evan Burnette, and Cullen Burnette; great-great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Stevenson and Noah John Stevenson; sister, Irene Ozemont of Rome, GA; special niece, Chrissy Clontz; and a special friend, Mitt McCreary.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Burnette, Sr.; brother, Paul Watson; and sisters, Alberta Evans and Edith Watson.

The cryptside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2019 in the chapel at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Donald Lovelace officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
