Thelma Setzer Coffey, 96, of Morganton, NC joined the Heavenly Angels on Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was born in Caldwell County, NC on August 10, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Ralph Setzer and Martha Corpening Setzer. Thelma was a beautiful elegant Christian lady who was kind to all she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Thelma retired from Morganton Hosiery Mill after 25+ years. She enjoyed sewing, basket weaving, quilting, and cooking special meals for her family. Thelma was a very dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served in many capacities.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl David Coffey; six sisters; four brothers; daughter, Romilda Wooderson; grandson, Michael Moretz; and great-granddaughter, Erin Moretz.
Thelma is survived by son, Larry Coffey and wife, Glenda of Hickory; daughters, Deanie “Earldean” Coffey Korry and husband, Paul of Fort Mill, SC, and Dianne Coffey Primm and husband, Bob of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 12 - 1 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church. The service will follow at the church at 1 p.m. with Reverends Clarence Correll and Charles Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lenoir. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 2441 Antioch Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
