Thomas “Tommy” Calvin Canipe, 93, of Morganton, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Born August 9, 1930, to the late Benjamin Franklin Canipe and Annie Lee Andrews Canipe.
Tommy was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. His career was spent as a mechanic at Paramount Oldsmobile & Cadillac for nearly 50 years. Tommy was dearly known for his stoicism, sense of humor, and dedication to his family.
Tommy is survived by his son, Bryan Canipe (Rita); daughter, Lori Eckard (Maurice); son-in-law, Todd Lynn; grandchildren, Cassidy Lackey (Tanner), Dr. Benjamin Canipe (Kelsey), Jason Eckard, Aaron Eckard, Nicole Lynn Turner, and Amelia Lynn (Harrison Spires); great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Grace, Victoria Lynn, Keygan Eckard, Hadley Ann Spires, and brother due in October; and brother Richard Canipe (Lula).
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Selma K. Canipe; daughter, LeAnne Lynn; and brother, Mike Canipe (Glenda), sister Logene Mullinix (Rex), and sister Jolene Bryant (Bill).
The cryptside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2024 at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
