Thomas "Tommy" Simpson Parker

Thomas "Tommy" Simpson Parker, Jr., 63, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Born July 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Thomas Simpson Parker, Sr. and Margie Aileen Cannon Parker. He was a member of Glen Alpine Presbyterian Church. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for several local construction companies but was best known as a musician.Thomas is survived by his son, Ian Thomas Parker; a daughter, Bo "Liberty" Parker; grandchildren, Stevie-Rhae Parker and Garren Thomas Parker; a brother, Henry D. Parker and wife, Deborah; sisters, Lynda Parker Wiseman and husband, Robert, and Denise Parker Ferber and husband, David; numerous nephews, nieces, and friends; a special friend, Peggy Acuff; and his significant other, Teresa McDavid.In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nicholas Raymond Parker and Swanie Inez Simpson Parker, and his maternal grandparents, John Wilfong Cannon and Nellie Grace Leonhardt Cannon.The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Dr. Robert Wiseman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until noon. Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C.
