Thomas William Campbell, 78, of Morganton, NC, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Born in Rutherford County, NC on March 8, 1946, he was the son of the late James Andrew Campbell and Ruth Elizabeth Pursley Campbell.
Thomas attended Laurel Haven Baptist Church. He drove a truck for Caldwell Freight Line and retired from Drexel Furniture. He enjoyed growing flowers and feeding the birds, but he loved his grandkids more than anything.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Shuler Campbell; son Shane Campbell (Karen); daughters Carla Campbell Pina (Jesus) and Bethany Campbell; grandchildren Christopher, William, Savannea, Gavian, Carrie, Diamond, Mercury, Delilah, Kiera, Julio, Jesus, Kenneth, Alissa, and Kayla; great-grandchildren Ridley, Easton, and Aubrey; sister Jane Lawing; brothers Bob (Pat), Ernest (Alice), and Leon Campbell (Rene); and daughter-in-law Wendy Campbell.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a son Scott Campbell; brothers Bruce and Wayne Campbell; and sisters Ethel Runion, Evelyn Poteat, and Brenda Arnett.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton and Rev. Mike Metcalf officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Haven Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
