Thomas Wilson Suttles

Thomas Wilson Suttles, 77, of Morganton, NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 5, 2017. Born in Burke County on February 2, 1940 he was a son of the late Andrew Suttles and Martha Smith Suttles.
Mr. Suttles was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was a devoted Christian man and was a member of New Grace Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Suttles retired from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. He loved gardening and sports of all kinds, but especially loved Nascar racing and watching golf.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Suttles was preceded in death by his sister, Elean Suttles DeVinney and brothers, Ronald, Clyde, and Jay Suttles.
Mr. Suttles is survived by his wife, Gloria Dale Suttles; children, Pamela Suttles Shellenberger and husband, Michael, Russell Thomas Suttles and wife, Jill, and Apryl Suttles and husband, Jason; and grandchildren, Sarah Shellenberger, Jessica Offill and husband, Josh, Kyle Smith, Jacob Suttles, Chase Suttles, Noah Suttles, and Malachi Suttles. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Kaylee Clay and Thea Clay; brothers, James Oliver Suttles and Kenneth Suttles and wife, Joyce; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2p.m., Wednesday in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.
