Tillman “Junior” Walker, 84, of Morganton passed away July 3, 2015, after several years of declining health. Born in Burke County, June 6, 1931, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Mary Martha Mace Walker.
Tillman was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He spent over forty years as a proud brick mason and retired from Broughton Hospital Carpenter Shop. He was a volunteer fireman for Brendletown Fire Department and enjoyed watching dirt track racing with friends.
Mr. Walker is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Clay and her husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Tim Swink, Morgan Clay, and Madison Clay; great-grandchildren, Tyler Swink and Abagail Swink; and sister, Beulah Waters.
In addition to his parents, Tillman was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Deborah; brothers, Carl, Joe, Elbert “Eb”, Frank, Raymond “Short”, Edward “Ed”, and William; and sister, Elmena.
The family will receive friends, July 7, 2015 from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be 5:00 at Denton’s Chapel with Rev. Brad Thompson and Rev. Bob Deviney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
