Tony Lee “Rack” Benfield

Tony Lee “Rack” Benfield, 57, of Glen Alpine went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 26, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 17, 1963, he was the son of the late Martin “J.B.” Benfield and Paula Marie Saulmon Benfield.  Tony was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother.  He was a hard worker who was always willing to help others.  Tony enjoyed camping, hunting, cooking, but especially spending time with his family and friends.

Tony is survived by his children, Tasha Ann McJunkin (Dale) and Dustin Benfield (fiancée, Cierra); grandchildren, Jaxon Benfield and Cade Coffey; sister, Shelby Price; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family; and a special grand-dog, PeeWee.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Benfield.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Keith Rose officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
