Velma Clay Buchanan

Velma Clay Buchanan, 85, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, October 6, 2015. She was born June 15, 1930 in Forsyth, GA to the late Ervin Moran Clay, Sr. and Fannie Sanders Clay. Velma was a retired employee of Burke Pharmacy and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Ervin M. "Pat" Clay, Jr. and Henry Clay.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John Elmer Buchanan; sons, Randy Buchanan and Jerry Buchanan and wife, Donna; brother, Wilbur Clay and wife, Jo Ann; sister, Ruby Kiddy all of Morganton; grandchildren, David Buchanan, Jeff Buchanan, Jonathan Buchanan, Matthew Buchanan and Adam Buchanan and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Lawrence Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
