Velma Taylor Davis

Velma Taylor Davis, 83, of Morganton died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Grace Heights. Born September 12, 1927 in Greene County, TN, she was a daughter of the late Sidney F. Taylor and Maude Cornwell Taylor. Velma was a member of Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Olin Davis; sisters, Ruby T. Drain, Wanda P. Taylor, Charlotte T. Arrington, and Charlsie D. Taylor; and brothers, Maynard, Howard, Luther, Johnnie, Billy, and Jay Taylor.Velma is survived by her husband, Guy Nelson Davis of the home; children, Peggy Davis Johnson and husband, James, Kenneth H. Davis and wife, Kathy, Gary N. Davis and wife, Judy, Judy Davis Dale and husband, Randy, Bobby Joe Davis and wife, Nancy, Vicki Davis Mayfield and husband, David, Randy Olin Davis and wife, Donna, and Pamela Davis Moses and husband, Jeff, all of Morganton; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ray Taylor and wife, Lucy, and Ralph Taylor and wife, Lena, all of Greeneville, TN.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday May 17, 2011 at Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverends Darvy Hensley and Jack Moses officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
