Velva Deal West

Velva Deal West, 74, of Sweetbriar Lane, Morganton, NC died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at her residence following an extended illness. Born in Burke County on April 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Deal and Ruth Campbell Deal.

Mrs. West is survived by her husband, Keith West of the home; two sons, Jhan Arlin West of San Diego, CA and Bruce Edward West of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Twila Jean Bennette of Chicago, IL; brothers, Paul Henry Deal of Morganton, Ted Gene Deal of Glen Alpine, NC; Nathan "Elmer" Deal of Kansas City, KS, and Wayne O.K. Deal of Morganton; sisters, Kaye Penley of Drexel, NC, Faye Hicks of Valdese, NC, and Susan Lennon of Icard, NC; two grandchildren, Keith Andrew West and Spencer Atwood West of San Diego, CA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 10, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Bess officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 6:00 at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence of Ted and Linda Deal, 108 Hennessee Street, Glen Alpine.
