Venila Sheets Benesh

Venila Sheets Benesh, 98, of Morganton, NC passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  The seventh of nine children, Mrs. Benesh was born on July 26, 1916 in Bloomingdale, NJ to the late William Sheets and Mary Anderson Sheets.  Venila was a member of Grace Episcopal Church since 1953 and served as Flower Guild Chair for many years.  She worked at Morganton Dye and Finishing and retired from Astro Industries.  For many years she was active in the Lioness Club and was Lioness of the Year in 1990.

Mrs. Benesh is survived by her sons, Jeff Benesh of Morganton and Jay Benesh and his wife, Jan, of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Dickson Benesh and his wife, Caddy, and their son, Elijah, Amy B. Taggart and her husband, Jeff, and their children, Marco and Ronan, and Jason Benesh; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and eight siblings, Venila was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anton Benesh.

A celebration of Mrs. Benesh’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dcn. Mike L. Jenkins officiating.  The family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service.
