Vera Beach Brittain

Vera Beach Brittain, 82, of Denton’s Chapel Road, Morganton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at her residence. Born in Burke County, NC on August 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fred Heath Beach and Cora Marie Neidig Beach. Vera was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She walked and prayed every weekday with her precious friend, Rassie Duckworth. Vera loved all of her devoted friends and prayer partners in her Sunday school class. She loved to work and help others, especially by volunteering at the Burke United Christian Ministries (BUCM) Food Pantry. She was a terrific wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and daughter. Vera focused her life on knowing, loving, serving, and glorifying God. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully.She is survived by two sons, Bobby Ray Brittain and wife, Rebecca, of Granite Falls, NC and Jeffrey Coy Brittain and wife, Cynthia, of Morganton; a daughter, Connie Ashby and husband, Carlton, of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Brittain, Carolyn McMurray, Stephen Ashby, Jessica Brittain, Janaye Brittain, and Jenna Brittain; great-grandchildren, Pamela Goins, Caleb McMurray, Caleigh McMurray, and Carlton Stephen Ashby, IV; brothers, Ralph and Ruthven Beach, both of Morganton; and three sisters, Louise Brittain, Mary Tallent, and Sarah Copeland, all of Morganton.In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Millard Brittain; a brother, Worth Beach; and sisters, Mary Virginia Beach, Ethyleen Murphy, and Blanche LeFevers.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Mount Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
