Vera N. Thomason, 93, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Born in Laurens County, SC on March 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Sloan Norris and Bertha Norris. Vera devoted her life to children. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Van Thomason; brother; sister; and son-in-law, Thomas Edwards.
Vera is survived by daughter, Virginia “Jinky” Edwards of Valdese; grandchildren, Shawn Edwards and wife, Kendra, of Rhodhiss, Britt Abernathy and husband, Harrison, of Valdese, and Lance Edwards and wife, Katie, of Asheville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hendrix of Valdese; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Kennedy, and Lukas; and a special friend, Betty McCurry of Morganton.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.
