Vernie Virginia Morgan Breen, 87, of Sweeten Creek Rd., Arden, NC and formerly of Adventist Circle, Morganton, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek after several years of declining health. She was born February 17, 1919 in Mills River, NC, and was the daughter of the late Fred T. and Alda Marie Acuff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wallace Breen.
She is survived by sons, Howard Beck of Morganton, Gary Beck of Glen Alpine; daughters, Peggy Ann Dowd of Connecticut, Brenda Lebensburger of Asheville; brothers, Ernest Morgan, Fred Acuff, Jr., both of Morganton, Calvin Acuff of Glen Alpine, James Acuff of Spruce Pine; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Table Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Roy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton. The family requests that memorials be made to CarePartners Hospice Foundation, P.O.
