Veronica Laff Hallyburton

Veronica Laff Hallyburton, 75, of Six Grace Avenue, Morganton, NC died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born May 27, 1931 in Warrington, England, and was the daughter of the late John Laff and Ruth Wilkinson Laff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, John Hallyburton. Veronica was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a retired employee of Skyland Textile and also Henredon Furniture. Following her retirement, she worked for seven years at Wal-Mart.

Veronica is survived by a son and his wife, Edward J. and Camilla Hallyburton of Morganton; a grandson, Robert Hallyburton of Jonas Ridge, NC; a step-grandson, Brandon Gallion and wife, Lauren, of Concord, NC; four great grandchildren, David Hallyburton, Kadie Hallyburton, Austin Hallyburton, and Kelsey Stump, all of Morganton; and her faithful companion, Toby.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2007 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Whittington officiating. The family will receive friends Monday at the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The A.L.S.
