Versie Huffman Carswell

Versie Huffman Carswell, 98 of Morganton, NC died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Morganton Long Term. Born in Burke County, NC on August 8, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Joe Huffman and Ida Huffman Huffman.
Versie was a faithful member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church and served as secretary-treasurer for the church for over fifty years. She loved her church and church family. Versie was a great cook, loved gardening, and working in her yard.
Mrs. Carswell is survived by her nieces, Shirley Brown, Doris Reynolds, Faye Clark, and Janet Smith; a nephew, Dennis Huffman; and numerous other special nieces and nephews on her late husband’s side of the family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carswell is preceded in death by her husband, Wesby O. Carswell; a brother, Fred Huffman; and a sister, Virginia Belle Huffman.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Carswell Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Isaac Propst officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
