Viney Huffman Wellman

Viney Huffman Wellman, 76, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Born in Cleveland County, NC on December 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Cicero Chapman and Pearl York Hudson. Viney was a devoted member of Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church. She retired from Western Carolina Center after many years of service.Viney is survived by her sons, Keith Harvey Huffman and his wife, Jeraldine, of Vale, NC, Terry Lynn Huffman of Morganton, and Gregory Allen Huffman and his wife, Cheryl Jane, of Morganton; daughters, Patsy Huffman Gibson, Sylvia Huffman Hicks and her husband, Orville, Sr., of Boone, NC, and Shelly Huffman-Register and her husband, Charles, Jr, of Connelly Springs, NC; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Anthony of Morganton; and a half-brother, Cecil Chapman of Morganton.In addition to her parents, Viney was preceded in death by her first husband, Harlan Sanford Huffman; and her second husband, Albert Franklin Wellman.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Reverends Danny McNeilly and Landon Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of Shelly Register, 6230 Tarheel Court, Connelly Springs.Memorial contributions may be made to Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church, 5292 Walker’s Chapel Road, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
