Viola Buff Denton, 80, went home on Monday, March 25, 2013 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Burke County on September 7, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Champion and Lydia Mae Waters Buff. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Denton; brothers, Ernest, Paul, Luther, Joe, and Clarence Buff, and by sisters, Ethel Davis, Annie Mae Benton, Beatrice Baker, and Florence Michaels. She was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church. Viola was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking for others. She kept many children in her home, and they loved her as their own Maw-MawLeft to cherish her memory are her sons and their wives, Don and Gale Denton, Ken and Betsy Denton, and Virgil and Annette Denton; her daughter and her husband, Lisa and Ervin Dale; and a sister, Ruby Norman. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nylene Bilow, Tony, Brittaney, Kristin, Champ, and Kirby Denton, and Caleb and Kaitlin Peters; and great-grandchildren, Dustin and Brandon Crowder and Kelsey Bilow all of whom she loved dearly.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Walker Road Baptist Church with Reverends Brandon Ware, Danny Emory, and Darvey Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour.
