Violet Mary Moretz, 83, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Born in Wayne County, MI on April 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Milburn Risdon and Sylvia Whitefoot Risdon.
Violet was a member of Hartland Baptist Church. She enjoyed drinking Pepsi, eating ice cream, quilting, and crocheting. She was an amazing cook who loved to cook for her beloved family. Violet also volunteered as a foster grandparent in the school system.
Mrs. Moretz is survived by her daughters, Margaret Risdon Claxton (Edwin), Rose Martin (David), Donna Moretz, and Tina Dale William (Dwaine); son, Otis Moretz; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Moretz; an infant daughter, Dora; and five brothers, Harry, Leo George, John F., Anthony, and Robert Risdon.
The family will receive friends at Hartland Baptist Church from 1 to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2025, which is also Violet’s birthday. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the church with Revs. Todd Smith and Steve Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
