Virgil Lee Crawley

Virgil Lee Crawley, 70 of Morganton died Saturday, July 6, 2013 following a period of declining health. He was born in Burke County on June 5, 1943 and was a son of the late Alex and Ruth Dale Crawley. Mr. Crawley was founder and owner of Superior Veneers, Inc. and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hazel Ballew Crawley; his son, Barry L. Crawley and wife, Cynthia, of Morganton; his daughter, Tanya Crawley and her husband, Samuel Yearick, of Hudson; grandsons, Shelby and Jordan Crawley; brothers, William Crawley and wife, Oma and Howard Crawley and wife, Alberta; sisters, Lucy Wellman and Verlie Smith and husband, Earl all of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Mr. Crawley was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Crawley and his wife, Ruth, and Nelson Crawley; a sister and her husband, Derlene and Raymond Brittain; and a brother-in-law, James Wellman.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church with Brother Bud Jernigan and Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour.
