Virginia Brackett Brooks

Virginia Brackett Brooks, 71 of Miller Ave., Morganton, NC died Friday, December 15, 2006 at Grace Hospital. Born Jan. 15, 1935 in Lincoln County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Clarence D. Brackett, Sr. and Mattie Mosteller Brackett. Virginia was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Brooks; brothers, Lee and Carl Brackett; sisters, Ethel and Lona Brackett, and Pauline Unverzagt; and a grandson, Robert Allen Presnell.

Surviving are her sons, Timothy Wayne Brooks and James Edward Brooks both of Morganton; daughters, Donna B. Presnell and her husband, Ricky, Myra B. McDaniels and her husband, Alan, and Vickie B. Garnhum all of Morganton; brothers, Lonnie, C.D., Edgar, and Fred Brackett; and sisters, Geneva Colvard, Rebecca Osborne, Eva Hoyle, and Evelyn Smith; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and a friend and companion, Raymond Bryan and his children, Debbie Mosley and Becky Blevins.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Garnhum officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
