Virginia Carolyn Haga Bailey, 95, of Morganton died Sunday, October 28, 2012 following a period of declining health. Born in Avery County, NC on February 24, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Kelly Haga and Edith Banner Haga. Virginia was a member of Mountain Grove United Methodist Church and retired from Broughton Hospital after 30 years. Virginia was the last of ten children and enjoyed crossword puzzles.Virginia is survived by her daughters, Ethel McNeely of Morganton and Carolyn Johnson and her husband, Ralph, of Claremont; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Bailey of Morganton; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces, and extended family.In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bailey; a daughter, Alice Bollinger; and nine brothers and sisters.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Neal F. Brantley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter, Ethel McNeely, on Bowman Avenue, Morganton.
