Virginia L. Cannon

Virginia L. Cannon, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 20, 2013. Born August 26, 1923 in Richmond, VA, she was a daughter of the late Charles Kanary and Bessie Kanary. She was a member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church where Virginia taught the Adult Sunday school class, and sang in the church choir and the Choraleers. She was a retired employee of Alba Waldensian Hosiery. Virginia loved her breakfast buddies at McDonalds and her swim buddies at Valdese Hospital.Virginia is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne McCraw and her special friend, Randy Turman, of Nebo, NC; grandchildren, Sandra Riddle and husband, Teddy, and Michael Lamb and wife, Andrea, all of Marion, NC; four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; siblings, Roland Kanary and Doris McCauley.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil David Cannon; and six brothers.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. George Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
