Virginia Pearl Buchanan

Virginia Pearl Buchanan, 96, of Nebo went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2019.  Born in Avery County on September 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Elgie Clark and Margaret Bowman Clark.  She was a member of River Valley Baptist Church.

Virginia is survived by her children, Jean Crump (Steve) of Lenoir, Wanda Newton (Ray) of Nebo, Milton Buchanan of Nebo, Harriett Yancey (Edward) of Morganton, Gail Henson of Newton, and David Buchanan (Pam) of Morganton; and numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Buchanan; and a son, Reuel Buchanan.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home.  Burial will follow in River Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter, Wanda Newton.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
