Virginia Richardson Mallonee

Virginia Richardson Mallonee, 84, of Airport Road, Marion, NC, died Monday, November 12, 2007 at Autumn Care of Marion. Born in Jasper, AL on September 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Clearvy Christopher Richardson and Decia Katherince Watkins Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Mallonee; daughters, Jennie Lou Mallonee and Jerrie Von Canon; and a grandson, Frederick Von Canon, III. Virginia was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church. An avid reader, Virginia also loved to quilt and volunteer for her church. She was devoted to her family.She is survived by a daughter, Jane Philips of Birmingham, AL; grandsons, Joseph Bond Philips, IV and wife, Stephanie, of Decatur, GA, and Ian Mallonee Philips of Birmingham; a granddaughter, Katie Jensen and husband, Christian, of Mt. Juliet, TN; a sister, Elaine Styles of Morganton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, Martha Waters of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral.
