Vivian Earley Mosteller Alderman, 85, of Morganton died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at her residence. Born January 22, 1927 in Polk County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Robert Garland Earley and Effie Marie Hyder Earley. Vivian attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church. For many years, she owned and operated the Tasty Dog Diner and several other cafes. Vivian was a devoted friend and caregiver to many people.She is survived by a son, Von Mosteller and wife, Kay, of Morganton; a daughter, Sandy Mosteller Miller and husband, Keith, of Morganton; grandchildren, Bryan Keith Miller and wife, Wendy, Robbie Mosteller, Marcus Mosteller, Joseph Mosteller and wife, Heather, and April Mosteller; a number of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Earley and wife, Lillian, Joyce Cordell and husband, George, and Grace DeHetre and husband, Walter, all of Morganton; and a special friend, Jean Lail of Morganton.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Joe Worth Mosteller; a son, Robert Daniel Mosteller; and a number of brothers and sisters.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Reverends Heather Kilbourne and Clyde Buckner officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour before the service.
