W. C. “Clint” Watson, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017. Born in Dobson, NC on April 12, 1928, he was the son of the late James William Watson and Alma Williams Watson. Mr. Watson was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Dobson and retired from the NC Dept. of Transportation. After his retirement, he worked for Hoffman Paving in Lenoir. Clint was a 55 year Mason. He was a past member of Copeland Lodge #390 in Dobson and was currently a member of Catawba Valley Lodge #217 in Morganton.
Mr. Watson is survived by his daughter, Jan Buckner and husband, Sam, of Morganton; daughter-in-law, Patsy Watson of Dobson; granddaughters, Amie Hall and husband, Kevin, Lori Ogle and husband, Wade, and Beth Woodard and husband, Mark; 6 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brothers, John, Alan, Don, and Wendell Watson; and sisters, Jean Edmonds and Betty Stanley.
In addition to his parents, Clint was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Naomi White Watson; a son, W. C. Watson, Jr.; and a brother, Billy Jack Watson.
The graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Clyde Buckner, Rev. David Orders, and Rev. Alan Curtis officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by Catawba Valley Lodge #217.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Abernethy Laurels Retirement Community, 102 Leonard Avenue, Newton, NC 28658.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
