Walter E. Elsner

Walter E. Elsner, 80, of Airpark Dr., Morganton, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 24, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Weiden, Germany on March 20, 1927. Mr. Elsner was of the Lutheran faith and was a tailor by trade. He enjoyed sewing, sailing, and fishing and built his own 35 foot sailboat.Surviving are his wife, Liz Elsner, of the home; daughters and their husbands, Becky and George Banks, of Morganton and Susan and Roger Clark, of Cheboygan, MI; sons, Steve Gall of Cheboygan and Dean Gall of Minden, LA; grandchildren, Angela, Terry, Steve, Chris, Katie, Chasidy, Trevor, and Tracy; great-grandchildren, Logan, Steve, Kyler, Tatum, Whitney, Thomas, Anthony, Andrew, and Joseph; a sister, Gisela Schrierer of Alpena, MI; and a brother, Gerhard Elsner, of Weiden, Germany.A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
